maureen cummins

artist/curator

April 26 - june 8, 2025

Maureen Cummins is an artist and curator specializing in ‘artists’ books’. While initially focusing on everyday ephemera (she is a self described ‘dumpster diver’), her more recent work turns to institutional collections, working to get readers to question their assumptions about the nature of historical authority. She has been featured in shows with Kiki Smith, Fred Tomaselli, and Kara Walker. Her work is held in over 100 public and institutional collections around the world.

Her deep connection to ‘art of the book’ makes her perfectly suited to curatorial pursuits. In our digital world, one of a kind, limited edition books, with material presence are speaking to art lovers and curators. We are so pleased to have her bringing this art form to 68 Prince Street Gallery.
